Introducing Baby Chowns (A.K.A. Jameson Ryland Binion Chowns)
After more than 9 months, Jameson Ryland Binion Chowns was birthed forth into the world. Jameson arrived at 1:46 a.m. on May 31, 2009. He weighed 9 lbs 8 oz, was 22.25 inches long and his head was 14.5 inches around. Big Boy! Monica was amazing! I am so incredibly proud of her and what she went through to bring our child into this world. Thank you! Both Monica and Jameson are doing well. Here are some photos for your enjoyment.

Waiting...
Three more sleeps until the Baby's due date and there is no sign of the Baby's arrival.
I am growing more impatient as the days go by. I am such an impatient person as far as these things go. I hate waiting for something to happen or for something to arrive. Right now I almost feel like I am waiting for Christmas. I can't even imagine what Monica must be going through.
She is uncomfortable. She is tired and sore. She can't wait until she isn't pregnant any more. She is excited for the Baby's arrival too.
We are probably 95% ready, at least as far as "stuff" goes. There are only a few more things we need. Are we mentally ready? I think so. Will we really ever be 100% mentally ready? We don't really have much of an idea what its going to be like. I mean, we've been around friends who have young kids and we've been told over and over that its hard and that we wont get much sleep, but what else? I think that no matter what we do, whether we read every book on parenting, or none at all, we will never really be ready. Now, obviously, not doing anything to be prepared would be just plain silly. But I don't think we should stress out over making sure we're ready. We're jumping in head first.
We just have to keep waiting...

Parenting 101
Yesterday I went shopping with my friends Melissa and Michelle. I was picking up a couple of last minute baby items. We went to this used kid's store (the kids aren't used - the kid's items are). We were standing in line behind this mom with her young daughter. The daughter had one of those miniature shopping carts for kids. She was jumping around and leaning on it like kids often do with shopping carts. The mother was warning her daughter to stop jumping and goofing around. Of course, being a restless kid standing in line, the daughter didn't really pay attention to her mother's heeding. She was leaning on this cart when suddenly she toppled over onto the the floor with her little shopping cart coming down on top of her. My friend, Michelle, mother of three, responded appropriately with, "Oh, honey! Are you okay?" and helped her off the floor. My immediate and natural thought was, "Stupid kid. That's what you get for jumping around and not listening to your mother."
... I'm going to be a great parent.
